Question Lakefest: Love it or leave it?

For those of us who live here, do you go to Lakefest or do you avoid it at all costs?

If I were not working, I would be as far from here as I could be.

we avoid going & have no interest in it whatsoever - it's impossible to avoid hearing the loud racket though we live 15 miles away.

Avoid it like the plague. For a number of reasons. If people are crazy enough to go out in drink beer in this kind of heat, what else are they crazy enough to do?

I went a couple of times when we first moved here & enjoyed it. I really don't mind it being here, as I think it helps the economy. I just don't go into the main part of town till the races are over.

Used to work it in various volunteer stations. Enjoyed watching out a few times. It does good things for the local economy and I support that idea. For the most part it's clean entertainment and most spectators are well-behaved.

Would I pay to go? No way!

Went a few years ago.. I enjoyed it. Volunteered a couple years ago. It's just so hot, I don't want to be out there.

Been involved off and on for 18 years, it's a great time for lots of people. Many dollors flow into our area. I just hope the curmudgeons and do gooder's don't ruin it.....Lord knows they are trying.

Normally we leave town, but couldn't this year. We went in to eat and couldn't find a parking space due to all the Lakefest people parking in front of the businesses. I know it is suppose to bring a lot of money to the area but what does it do to the business who can't get to?

I lived in Pecan Valley for 10 years and dreaded this weekend. Road closures and congestion are horrible. The noise all weekend could be heard in the house. I'm glad to be far enough away now.

I'm also sure that part of the town benefits from the race weekend, but that's not the case for all. My weekend numbers are down every year. Those down by the lake do well, while the rest of us do not.

It's only three or four days I've learned to deal with. I've never been and won't go.
